Social media has been filled with excitement as actress Iyabo Ojo continues to bask in the joy of becoming a grandmother for the first time.
The actress recently announced the arrival of her grandson, Prince Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, whom her daughter, Priscilla, welcomed with Tanzanian singer Juma Jux. Sharing a photo of herself, Priscilla and the newborn in the labour room, the proud grandma urged fans to say hello to the “latest grandma in town.”
A heartwarming video posted on Priscilla’s Instagram story showed Iyabo cradling her grandson while singing to him, declaring that her joy had finally come. The clip left fans gushing, with many describing the moment as priceless and congratulating the new grandmother.
Just last month, Iyabo revealed her grand plans for the baby’s Lagos naming ceremony after her Omugo duties in Canada. At Priscilla’s baby shower, she prayed passionately for her daughter, declaring that unlike hers, Priscilla’s marriage would last long.
Meanwhile, Priscilla has been expressing her gratitude to her husband, Juma Jux, since the birth of their son. In her Instagram story, she wrote:
My husband, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I love you more than words can say. Thank you always, my love.”
The couple, who tied the knot in a lavish six-part ceremony across Tanzania and Nigeria earlier this year, first confirmed they were expecting a child in July when they shared maternity shoot photos. They later held a gender reveal party in Tanzania and a baby shower in Canada, hosted by Iyabo Ojo and actress Lola Alao.
Priscilla also opened up about her labour room experience on Snapchat, revealing that contractions forced her to rush to the hospital at 3am, cancelling all her plans to “slay” and create content. She humorously added that her son decided not to share a birthday with his father, Jux.
Iyabo Ojo has often expressed her wish for Priscilla to marry young and start a family, and with this new chapter, the actress says her long-time prayers have been answered.
