The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections remains open to all qualified aspirants, dismissing rumours that the party intends to present only President Bola Tinubu as the sole candidate.

The clarification was provided by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, during a press briefing held in Abuja on Wednesday.

Argungu acknowledged that while the National Working Committee (NWC), state governors, and zonal structures of the APC have publicly endorsed President Tinubu for a second term, the party will not prevent other members from seeking the presidential nomination.

He emphasised that the party’s recent endorsements reflect appreciation for Tinubu’s performance but do not signify a closed nomination process.

In his statement, Argungu assured that the APC remains committed to democratic principles and internal inclusivity. He confirmed that when the party releases its election timetable, all interested members will have the opportunity to purchase expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for the ticket.

He further emphasised that the party will adhere to guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Electoral Act to ensure a transparent and fair process.

Argungu also pointed to the party’s recent electoral successes in traditionally opposition-held states as evidence of growing public confidence in the APC and the Tinubu administration.

He reiterated that the party’s doors are open to all aspirants, reinforcing that democracy requires choice and participation rather than imposition or exclusion.
