Nollywood actress Olaide Oyedeji has spoken candidly about her journey as a single mother.
In a recent interview, the Yoruba movie star disclosed that her current reality wasn’t something she ever saw coming. According to her, she never believed she would end up with two baby daddies. She added that unlike some women who deliberately become single mothers by choice, hers happened against her plans.
Olaide explained that some ladies, especially those targeting celebrities, use pregnancy as a tool to tie men down. She advised women to avoid trapping men with children, stressing that there are many other ways to show love without bringing a child into the picture.
Her words:
“I am a single mother by force and not by choice. If anyone had told me that I would have two baby daddies, I would have denied it. Some women are single mothers by choice because they baby-trap men, but that was never my plan.”
Olaide’s revelation mirrors that of her colleague, Kemity, who once shared her own story of having children from different men. Kemity revealed that the father of her first child, who was also her first love, died tragically in a hotel after returning from Malaysia, leaving her a widow at a young age.
Over the years, Olaide has had to deal with public scrutiny. In 2023, she lashed out at critics who slammed her for leaving her marriage, questioning why Nigerians see marriage as a do-or-die affair. She emphasized that she would never have walked away if her marriage had been rosy.
On Father’s Day, the outspoken actress threw shade at her ex, hailing responsible fathers while calling out “deadbeat dads” whom she described as nothing more than sperm donors.
Meanwhile, her colleague, Ayo Olaiya, has also had to address speculations linking him to her broken marriage. The married actor made it clear that he had nothing romantic with Olaide and was not the reason for her separation.
