The Ooni of Ife celebrates Tadenikawo on his 5th birthday, honouring his son with warm words that highlight the place he holds in the royal lineage and the future of their dynasty.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, marked the 5th birthday of his son, Prince Tadenikawo, with a message filled with pride for the young prince he shares with his ex-wife, Naomi Silekunola.
On his Instagram page, the monarch described Tadenikawo as his beloved son in whom he sees the promise of tomorrow, the strength of heritage, and the continuation of the sacred royal line. He added that the prince’s laughter brightens their household and renews his confidence in the lasting greatness of their people.
Showering him with prayers, the Ooni said Tadenikawo represents more than lineage—he is a gift and a reminder of God’s grace.
He wrote:
Today, my heart overflows with gratitude to Eledumare as I celebrate the 5th birthday of my beloved son, Prince Tadenikawo.
In you, I see the promise of tomorrow, the breath of heritage, and the continuation of our sacred dynasty. Your laughter brings light to our royal household, and your presence renews my faith in the enduring greatness of our people.
As you grow in wisdom and stature, may the ancestors guide your steps, and may the Almighty crown your journey with purpose, honour, and divine favour.
Tadenikawo, you are more than a son; you are a gift, a legacy, and a testament to God’s grace.
Happy birthday, my prince. Your destiny is blessed, and your path is guided. Long may you live to fulfil the glory that awaits you.”
In 2023, the Ooni and Naomi reunited at the palace to celebrate the prince’s 3rd birthday, a moment that circulated widely on social media. They also appeared together earlier this year at a project opening in Akure, Naomi’s hometown, where the monarch was seen speaking with her as she held their son.
Naomi’s split from the Ooni in December 2022 came as a surprise to many. She later explained that the marriage had both sweet and difficult seasons, and that she was too gentle at the time to fully understand the realities she faced. She confirmed she would not return to the palace, noting that the monarch now has six wives.
Speaking in October about the end of his marriage, the Ooni admitted that he was mocked for being a king without a queen. He said he sought answers from God, and now has multiple queens in his palace.
