Overview
emPawa Africa is a music label services platform that partners with independent African artists and labels in creating, promoting and funding their art to the world whilst maintaining their economic and creative freedom.
emPawa Africa is the brainchild of African Superstar – Mr Eazi and is home to incredible artists such as Tekno, Minz, DJay, Blanche Bailly and DJ Neptune.
Finance is one of the company’s most critical departments, and is a service that artists value the most after distribution.
We are now in search of an ambitious and motivated A&R Intern to join Empawa Africa.
You will be responsible for assisting in the execution and running of artist camps. You will likely have a passion for music and the creative process and bringing artists and the likes of producers and songwriters together.
This is a very exciting position for someone who is looking to use this role as a stepping stone into artist management or senior A&R and be a part of revolutionising the music business and having a role to play in pioneering music from Africa across the globe.
Responsibilities
- Assisting and participating in coordination of record production. This includes working with various stakeholders, i.e. artists, mixing and mastering engineers, studio managers, and artists.
- Assisting with all other day-to-day administrative tasks to ensure artist projects are complete and submitted on time.
- Crafting detailed bi-weekly A&R research reports and other scouting projects. Job
- Monitoring and reporting on various charts domestically and internationally.
- Supporting the team with monitoring, analysis, and evaluation.
- Assisting in running artist camps
Qualification
● You must love listening to indie and unsigned artists.
● You must have exceptional interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, and organizational skills are required.
● You must have strong computer skills.
● You should have a basic understanding of the music industry, but still be eager to learn
more about the day-to-day process behind it all.
● You are a team player, creative thinker and a great communicator.
● You are highly motivated and organized.
● You are able to work independently and have a proactive attitude.
● You must have experience handling confidential information.
● You are comfortable in sharing ideas with internal teams.
