43 years after the death of Onyenweala VI, King (Eze) Truman Wabara Akpara, the people of Umuihueze Akwete autonomous community in Ukwa East LGA of Abia State anointed King Augustine Enyinna Ogbulu Opiah Agbara, the Onyenweala VII, over the weekend.
The Regent, Gabriel Okerenta Chuta – Ekeke Agbara, presided over the coronation, which was held in the community’s old plaza.
In his post-coronation remarks, Palace Secretary Mr. Ogbonna Chijiuche praised the Abia State government, through the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, for approving the coronation.
Chijiuche, who hailed God for their traditional ruler’s successful coronation, blamed the delay on a kingship dispute.
He stated that during the 1975 choosing of King Trueman Esiuka Akpara Agbara, it was agreed that Opiah would take the following turn.
He added that Opiah has nominated King Augustine Ogbulu as the Mbichiriezi of Opiah and the Onyenweala-elect of the Akwete ancient Kingdom since 2000, in accordance with their customs, culture, and traditions.
