Job Description
The Accountant is to prepare a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other financial reports, and analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.Functions/Key Results ExpectedPrepare asset, liabilities, and capital accounts entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Responsibilities
- The Accountant is to prepare a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other financial reports, and analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.Functions/Key Results ExpectedPrepare asset, liabilities, and capital accounts entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Document financial transactions by entering account information
- Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
- Summarise current financial status by collecting information
- Preparing resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports
- Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
- Maintaining accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
Qualification
- University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines with a minimum of 5 years of working experience
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles including the generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Adequate understanding of accounting and reporting standards, getting experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues.
- Proficient use of accounting software e.g. Sage, FreshBooks, and QuickBooks
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/Year-close process
- Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- Accuracy, strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
- Professional accounting-related qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
