Nollywood star Temitope Osoba has shared her emotional journey of battling cancer and the impact it had on her hopes of becoming a mother.

In an interview on Oyinmomo TV, the actress disclosed that she was diagnosed with cancer and was told that further tests would determine the extent of its spread. To make matters worse, doctors informed her that she wouldn’t be able to conceive for the next five years because of the medications she would need to take, which could affect a baby.

Hearing the news at 38 was devastating for her, as it meant she might not have children until her 40s.

“I was told I had cancer and that further tests would be carried out to check how far it had spread. The doctors also said I wouldn’t be able to conceive for the next 5 years because of the medications I’d have to take, as they could affect the baby. Hearing that at 38 years old was devastating. I couldn’t imagine waiting that long. But I rejected the report and held on to my faith in God. I began the journey with prayer and fasting, combining both the medical and the spiritual. When I did a CT scan, it came out negative; the cancer hadn’t spread. Eventually, they performed a second surgery to remove the remaining tumour,” she revealed.

Thankfully, her CT scan showed that the cancer hadn’t spread, and after a second surgery, the remaining tumour was removed.

This isn’t the first time the actress has opened up about personal struggles. In February last year, Temitope recounted a traumatizing experience of sexual assault by her uncle after moving to her grandmother’s house. The incident affected her career and led to depression due to financial struggles.

Following that revelation, actress Biola Bayo announced her return to Nollywood, appealing to producers and directors to support Temitope with scripts and opportunities.

Later in the year, her senior colleague Foluke Daramola disclosed that Temitope had undergone breast surgery, thanking the public for their financial assistance and urging for continued support.

In December, during her birthday celebration, Temitope received a surprise gift of a car from an anonymous Nigerian, a gesture that moved her to tears.
