Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi has shared her personal experience with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe pregnancy condition, while reacting to the tragic death of a woman who took her life after battling the ailment.
Adesua expressed frustration over the lack of understanding of the condition and thanked her support system for helping her through her ordeal.
The heartbreaking story of Jess Cronshaw, a woman who reportedly ended her life due to hyperemesis gravidarum, resonated deeply with Adesua Etomi. Cronshaw’s battle with extreme nausea and vomiting had left her bedridden, highlighting the debilitating nature of the condition.
Taking to her Instagram story, Adesua shed light on the seriousness of hyperemesis gravidarum and called for greater awareness.
“When I talk about the seriousness of hyperemesis gravidarum, people don’t get it, and I hate it. I am grateful for my husband, my doctors, family, and friends who rallied around me.
It is not an ordinary morning sickness. It is a serious condition that literally affects the quality of your life.”
Adesua has been open about her struggles, revealing the physical and emotional toll hyperemesis gravidarum took on her. While reflecting on her birthday in February, she recounted a challenging year that included:
- Being hospitalized due to hyperemesis gravidarum.
- Supporting her husband, Banky W, during surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
- Undergoing an emergency C-section.
Despite these trials, Adesua credited her faith and loved ones for seeing her through the tough times.
In October, Adesua and her husband Banky W announced they were expecting their second child. They later welcomed a baby boy, with Banky sharing glimpses of his dedication as a husband and father.
He emphasized the importance of partnership in marriage, describing it as a “100-100” commitment. Banky humorously listed his many roles, from chef to homework teacher, as he supported Adesua post-delivery.
In December, the couple celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary. Banky shared a heartfelt video of their journey together, expressing gratitude for Adesua’s love and partnership. Adesua, in her usual elegant manner, reaffirmed her love for her husband.
