Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has revealed that the COVID-19 era marked a major turning point in her life, with a remarkable financial breakthrough during the pandemic.
In a candid interview with colleague Biola Bayo, the Yoruba actress shared how she made ten million naira within just a week or two during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. She described the period as a pivotal moment that changed her fortunes.
Aisha also addressed the viral claim that MC Oluomo gifted her a Venza car. She firmly denied the allegation, urging critics to respect her name. The actress clarified that she drives a GX 460 and owns several shops, emphasizing the hard work behind her success.
I didn’t even drive a Venza, I drive a GX 460, and my shop is like a four- or five-storey building,” she said.
Recounting her childhood, Aisha revealed she began driving at 16, often taking night buses to Oshodi and avoiding hotels by traveling overnight. She lived in Ijebu Ode before starting her business trips to China.
Aisha shared how her late father wanted her to study Theatre Arts but misunderstood the profession, believing actresses often had unstable marriages and children out of wedlock. She also reflected on the harsh realities of social media, noting how people often face criticism rather than support.
Last year, Aisha survived the Bodija explosion in Ibadan, recalling the traumatic scene of seeing many dead bodies and expressing gratitude for her life.
She also confidently stated that Yoruba actors and filmmakers are rightful owners of Nollywood, recognizing their pioneering role in building the industry.
