Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State and Will Stevens, Consul General of the United States (US) in Nigeria, have promised to work together more closely to foster development in Akwa Ibom.

This was announced in a statement on Saturday in Uyo by Mr. Ekerete Udoh, the governor’s chief press secretary.

He said:

“The Consul General of the United States to Nigeria the Honorable Will Stevens has lauded Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno on the developmental strides currently ongoing in the state.

“He has also congratulated the Governor for emerging victorious at the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial polls which he stated was free, fair and credible.

“The visibly elated Consul General described Akwa Ibom people as inherently happy.

“He reiterated the call for robust partnership earlier made by the U. S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken during his visit to Nigeria last week, noting that Africa will define the future of the world.

“He also stated that the United State is committed to the economic growth and prosperity of Nigeria and her subnationals.

“He commended the government of Akwa Ibom state for the incredible work done to combat the scourge of Covid-19 and HIV AIDS, as well as issues around climate change and the extractive industry.”

“Later, Governor Eno, conducted the Consul General to an inspection of the Model Primary School at the Christ the King School which is due for commissioning at the end of this month.”
