FIFA punished Al-Nassr with a transfer ban for failing to pay owed add-ons to Leicester City in the Ahmed Musa deal.
Al-Nassr’s ban resulted from their failure to fulfill obligations to Leicester, specifically regarding the add-ons related to Musa’s transfer.
After Leicester’s 2015/16 Premier League triumph, Musa joined the club but faced challenges in England, managing to score only five goals in 33 games. As a result, he was loaned back to his former club.
In 2018, Al-Nassr acquired Musa in a £14m transfer deal. During his time at the club, Musa played 60 games and helped the team win the league. He was eventually released as a free agent after two years.
According to FIFA’s official ruling, Al-Nassr has failed to pay €460k (£390k) plus interest in performance-related add-ons.
In October 2021, the ruling warned Al-Nassr that they would face a transfer registration ban if they failed to pay Leicester the outstanding amount. They have now failed to comply, resulting in the imposition of the registration ban. This applies to both domestic and international transfers, preventing the registration of star players from abroad.
Despite a brilliant career, Musa didn’t score a goal or provide an assist during the 2022/23 season. He started only six games for Sivasspor in Turkey.
