Two shops located on the mainline of Mgbuka Obosi Market in Anambra’s Idemili North Local Government Area were destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.
Firefighters protected many of the Mgbuka Obosi Market’s businesses and shops from fire.
Chukwudi Chiketa, Chief Fire Officer of Anambra Fire Service, confirmed the event to journalists in Onitsha on Sunday.
According to him:
“The Anambra Fire Service received a distress call at 2 pm of a fire outbreak at the mainline of Mgbuka Obosi Market.
“The gallant firefighters and equipment were deployed immediately to the scene. They fought and contained the fire.
“No life was lost. The fire affected two stores and a provision shop, while many other stores and shops in the Mgbuka Obosi Market were saved. Power surge was identified as the cause of the fire outbreak.”
