Nollywood actress Annie Macaulay Idibia has stirred fresh reactions online after a post many believe was a subtle dig at her ex-husband, legendary singer 2Baba.
Taking to her Instagram story, Annie reshared a message encouraging people to celebrate fathers who go the extra mile for their children. The post read:
Send this to a Dad who makes you think, ‘Wow, he’s really a great dad and his kids are blessed to have him. Sometimes we need a little reminder.”
However, what caught the attention of fans was Annie’s choice of names. She tagged Peter Okoye, Cole Peter and Andilen Cube, but conspicuously left out 2Baba, her children’s father.
This move sparked debate online, with many interpreting it as a direct shade at the music star.
Unnecessary shade. 2Baba may not be perfect, but he has always been present for his kids,” one user commented.
Another wrote: “It’s confusing how she’s praising men she’s not married to, but ignoring her children’s father. This looks more like bitterness than honesty.”
Others, however, defended Annie, insisting that a man could be a great father to some children but still fall short in other areas.
The drama comes barely a month after Annie shared a cryptic post about “archiving and moving on,” which many saw as a reference to her failed marriage. She also made headlines at the Headies Awards when she pointedly reintroduced herself as “Annie Macaulay” instead of Annie Idibia, boldly announcing her single status.
It will be recalled that earlier in the year, 2Baba confirmed his separation from Annie, bringing an end to their high-profile marriage. Since then, the actress has not shied away from expressing herself publicly, leaving fans speculating about the state of their relationship as co-parents.
