At least 4,000 people in Lagos benefited from the sale of rice confiscated by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), on Friday.
Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of the NCS, ordered on Thursday that the confiscated rice be sold to members of the public at a subsidised cost of N10,000 per 25 kg bag.
He instructed that beneficiaries show their National Identification Numbers. 4,000 individuals gain from the sale of grains confiscated by Customs.
Addressing pressure organisations, religious leaders, and other recipients of the gesture, Adeniyi appealed with them resell food item.
He stated that the gesture will help more Nigerians by selling rice at a subsidised rate at all Customs commands across the nation.
