Nigeria’s Taiwo Awoniyi scored a brace for Nottingham Forest to play out a 2-2 draw with Chelsea as his team continue their struggle to survive relegation.
Both sides had scored the same amount of goals in the league this season, going into the contest, though the visitors arrived on the back of seven successive away defeats and with the worst Premier League away record this season.
Awoniyi gave Forest an early lead, helped by an Edouard Mendy mistake as he looped a header over the stranded goalkeeper.
Early in the second half, Sterling found the net twice in a matter of minutes to put Chelsea ahead.
The lead only lasted three minutes, as Awoniyi beat Mendy with another header to draw Forest level.
Awoniyi has enjoyed a fairly productive season, scoring six Premier League goals — the second most for Forest behind Brennan Johnson (eight).
Nottingham Forest remains three points clear of the relegation zone as they fight to stay up on their return to the top flight for the first time in 23 years.
Awoniyi will look to continue his fine form as Forest host league contenders Arsenal on Saturday, 20th May.
