Political commentator Ayodele Adewale has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritise fulfilling its promises to Nigerians rather than being distracted by opposition coalitions such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking during an appearance on TVC’s breakfast political programme on Thursday, Adewale emphasised the need for the ruling party to remain focused on governance and economic interventions.
Adewale stated, “From my perspective, I will not get carried away by all these innuendos. I think the ruling party, the APC, should focus more on the programmes they’re delivering and fast-track interventions on economic matters.”
Ayodele Adewale argued that the APC administration has already laid a new foundation for Nigeria’s economy and foreign relations, pointing to efforts aimed at attracting foreign direct investment and strengthening the educational sector.
While acknowledging the current economic challenges faced by Nigerians, Adewale described them as “birth pangs” necessary for long-term growth.
He urged citizens to exercise patience, drawing parallels with Nigeria’s past struggles during the Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) of the 1980s and 1990s. During that period, industries collapsed, unemployment rates soared, and many families struggled to afford education.
Ayodele Adewale’s remarks come amid increasing political realignments and opposition movements ahead of future elections. However, he maintained that the APC’s primary focus should be on delivering tangible results rather than engaging in political distractions. His comments reflect a broader call for governance that prioritises economic stability and development over partisan rivalries.
