At least four persons were killed in Gidan Damo village, Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, when armed bandits raided the community on Wednesday night and shot seven individuals.
A community resident in a phone interview with DAILY POST, who requested anonymity characterised the attack as “terrible”
According to him, the bandits arrived in huge numbers on motorbikes and began firing intermittently.
He went on to say, “They shot seven people in our community, and out of them, four were confirmed dead on the spot.”
He stated that the people fled into the jungle for protection, and some of them were unable to locate their family members.
When asked if the terrorists abducted anybody during the attack, he replied:
“We cannot be sure as of now if the terrorists abducted some of our people because, as I am talking to you now, I am hiding inside a farm for safety.”
DAILY POST also learned that the insecurity situation in Zamfara has deteriorated due to a revival of banditry. Bandits have been active on a daily basis for the previous two months.
At the time of reporting this story, attempts to reach Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazod Abdulahi, for confirmation were fruitless.
