Barcelona Femeni: 62-Match Winning Streak Ends

Barcelona Femeni drew 1-1 with Sevilla on Wednesday as their 62-match La Liga win streak ended.

Barcelona Femeni nearly completed a second consecutive perfect La Liga campaign, winning their first 27 games before Wednesday’s draw.

Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic scored for Barcelona in the 80th minute to give her team a chance at continuing their streak, but despite 24 shots and 84 percent possession in the match, they couldn’t find another breakthrough.

Prior to this draw, the last time Barça dropped points in the domestic competition was back in 2021, when they lost 4-3 to Atlético Madrid in the league. Since then, they have maintained a consistent winning streak, defying the odds despite star player Alexia Putellas’ absence for most of this incredible run.

In the 2020-2021 season, they won the treble, which consisted of the Primera Division, the Copa de la Reina, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

In spite of points dropped the Barca ladies are on course to winning La Liga as they currently boast a goal differential of +106 through 28 games and are well clear of second-placed Real Madrid.

Barcelona Femeni play the UWCL final against Wolfsburg on June 3 at the Philips Stadion in the Netherlands.
