Former BBNaija All Stars housemate, Pere Egbi, delves into the intimate details of his childhood and the enduring absence of his father in a recent interview with TV and radio personality Hero Daniels. The former US military soldier candidly shares the impact of his father’s early departure from his life, shedding light on the supportive role of other male figures in his upbringing.

Pere discloses that he lost his father at the tender age of four, while his sister was just three. Despite this early loss, Pere expresses gratitude for the presence of other male figures in his household who effectively assumed the role of a father figure, lessening the impact of his biological father’s absence. Notably, Pere emphasizes his strong connection to his mother’s home state of Bayelsa.

I like to say I’m from Bayelsa State because my mum is from Bayelsa. My dad, however, is from Delta State. My father has never been a part of my life at all… He used to live in America before I was born. A bunch of things happened, and my parents ended up separating. So, I was raised only practically by my mother,” Pere shares.

Pere, being the first child and the only boy, reflects on the sacrifices made by his mother, who single-handedly provided for the family, ensuring they had shelter and access to quality education. From kindergarten to secondary school, his mother bore the responsibility of paying school fees. Pere’s journey eventually led him to the United States, where he pursued a nursing degree after serving six years in the US military.
