Former Big Brother Naija winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has once again taken to social media to call out the Dangote Group following the tragic death of her younger sister, Ruth Itabor.
In a fiery Instagram Live session, Phyna alleged that her sister’s death was “calculated and planned.” She claimed that her instincts tell her the hospital was instructed by the company to inject Ruth, leading to her untimely passing. According to her, representatives of the Dangote Group failed to show up for the burial and have since ignored her calls.
Not stopping there, Phyna shared a screenshot of a letter allegedly sent by the company to her father, asking him to acknowledge receipt of funds given for burial expenses. She accused the group of impersonating her father by drafting the letter themselves for him to sign.
“@dangotegroup you killed my sister, did massive PR, gave my dad money for burial, then still typed an acknowledgement letter as if you were my dad and sent it to him to sign. This should never happen again,” she fumed on Instagram Story.
The reality star further alleged that contrary to the company’s claims of covering all medical bills, they only paid for treatment at Lagoon Hospital, while her family bore the cost of other hospitals from Auchi to Irrua.
She wrote:
“In the time of all the troubles, Dangote Group said to the public that they’ve paid all hospital bills. The only bill covered was Lagoon Hospital. Bills from Auchi down to Irrua were paid by the family. Even mortuary bills were on us.”
Phyna’s sister, Ruth, died on August 31, 2024, after being hit by a Dangote truck. The incident sparked outrage when Phyna accused the company of ordering the police to remove the truck’s plate number. She vowed at the time that although Dangote had money, “he is not God.”
Following the accident, the Dangote Group released a press statement pledging support, promising full medical care, and even hinting at plans to fly Ruth abroad for treatment. But Phyna insists this was false, stressing that no travel arrangements or additional payments were made.
She demanded evidence from the company, including hospital payment records, travel documentation, and proof of communication.
Though devastated, Phyna has promised not to let the matter slide. She declared that even if she couldn’t get justice for her late sister, she would ensure her kids don’t suffer the same fate.
“I will come for Dangote Group. I don’t mind being arrested, but this cannot go in vain,” she said.
The reality star’s outburst has once again divided social media, with many sympathizing with her grief while others await an official response from the Dangote Group.
