Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has stated that eight Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state are now experiencing insecurity.

He said that his government is working hard to put an end to the crisis so that Internally Displaced Persons, or IDPs, may return to their ancestral homes and farmers can return to their crops.

The Governor remarked during his goodwill message at the wedding ceremony of Ter Kunav’s traditional ruler, HRH Nyiyongo Achiaku, and his bride Betty Ayaka, held at ECWA No.1 in Makurdi over the weekend.

He urged the state’s traditional rulers not to compromise on the issue of insecurity and instead work with his government to put an end to the problem.

While expressing worry over the situation, the Governor stated:

“Eight LGAs in Benue State are at the frontline of insecurity, but my administration is not resting on its oars to end the insecurity and return the displaced persons to their ancestral homes.”
