Nollywood actress Bimpe Akintunde says women are their own worst enemies as she calls on her gender to support one another instead of tearing each other down.
Taking to Instagram, the mother of two expressed her frustration, noting that many women are quick to betray or criticize other women. Although she rarely comments on public matters, Bimpe admitted she couldn’t stay silent about this one.
“Obinrin ni ota obinrin. Looto! I’m so angry right now. I no dey put mouth for wetin no concern me, but on this matter, I must talk! Woman to woman, ti yin ma baje ni!” she wrote passionately.
Shortly after her outburst, Bimpe received numerous calls from colleagues and friends who were worried about her. She later clarified that her rant wasn’t about her but about an older sister currently going through a difficult time.
“The rant isn’t about me. It’s for an older sister who’s facing a lot right now. I got you, Mama. This too shall pass. Dear women, we can do better,” she shared.
This isn’t the first time the Yoruba actress has used her platform to speak to women. Over time, Bimpe Akintunde has encouraged women to value themselves, practice self-care, and stand tall regardless of life’s challenges.
From advising men to appreciate their wives after watching Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi 2 to speaking on the struggles of single mothers, Bimpe continues to use her voice to uplift and inspire. She has also openly shared her experience as a single mother for eight years, urging others not to give up or be too hard on themselves.
As she put it,
Life happens, but women must keep moving, rebuilding, and believing that better days will come.”
