Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty, has responded to fans urging her to reveal the names of marketers she accused of pressuring her to leave the Yoruba movie industry.
The actress previously disclosed that some marketers blacklisted her for refusing their advances, leading her to exit the industry.
In a revelation shared earlier, Biodun Okeowo opened up about her decision to step away from the Yoruba movie industry. She recounted how certain marketers blacklisted her and pressured producers not to feature her in movies. In one instance, her image was removed from the poster of a film where she played the lead role.
Despite these challenges, Okeowo noted that she has found success outside the industry and remains grateful for her journey.
Following the backlash and calls for her to name the marketers, Biodun addressed the issue via her Instagram page.
She wrote:
“I saw a lot of comments saying I should mention the names of the said marketers. Should I? I heard it’s call-out season! Wisdom is profitable to direct. These marketers are alive and seeing it all; they know themselves.”
Okeowo emphasized that God has been good to her, as she continues to thrive even after a decade away from the industry. She also acknowledged the existence of good marketers who supported her career without seeking inappropriate favors.
The actress encouraged her fans to support her by subscribing to her YouTube channel, noting how platforms like YouTube have provided actors with alternatives to traditional Nollywood structures.
She added:
“You fans, too, need to please support us by subscribing to our YouTube channels. My own link is on my bio. God bless you all.”
Biodun’s story sheds light on the darker sides of the entertainment industry. In 2023, she had spoken about the struggles faced by her colleagues who were blacklisted for refusing to compromise their values. Many suffered financial hardships, including the inability to pay their children’s school fees, but ultimately overcame those challenges through resilience and grace.
In a personal transformation, Biodun Okeowo announced later that year her decision to move away from wearing revealing outfits, urging brands to support her in this new chapter of her career.
