Big Brother Naija alumna and actress Bisola Aiyeola has opened up about her mother’s unwavering support during her early days as a young mother. In a candid interview with Nolly Wire, Bisola recounted the emotional but supportive reaction of her mother upon learning of her pregnancy.
Bisola shared that her mother, although initially saddened by the news, made a heartfelt promise to stand by her side. Her mother assured her that she would care for her baby, enabling Bisola to focus on rebuilding her career. Staying true to her word, Bisola’s mother has continued to support her in raising her daughter.
“She told me, ‘Don’t worry, have the baby. When you have the baby, I will look after her so you can go back to work or whatever it is you want to do.’ To this day, my mother still helps out with my daughter.”
Bisola also reflected on the judgment she faced for her strict parenting methods, particularly her decision to delay her daughter’s access to a mobile phone until she was 16. She revealed a notable incident where she disciplined her daughter for attempting to open a smart chat account, standing firm on her parenting principles.
In earlier interviews, Bisola opened up about her struggles as a single mother, recounting difficult times when she relied on neighbors for food and used creative means to care for her child. She revealed how her engagement fell through, leaving her to raise her daughter alone.
When her daughter turned 13, Bisola penned a heartfelt message to celebrate the milestone. She described her daughter as an inspiring and amazing individual who motivates her to work hard.
“My daughter inspires me and makes me want to work harder. I rejoice every day knowing I am the proud mother of an incredible teenager.”
