Bobrisky, a well-known crossdresser and social media personality, has vehemently denied allegations of bribery made by fellow influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

In a viral audio recording shared by VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky claims that unidentified operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) demanded N15 million from him in exchange for dropping money laundering charges against him.

Bobrisky is facing six charges related to currency abuse and money laundering, with the total amount alleged to be N127,780,877.98. These funds were reportedly deposited into his company’s account at Eco Bank Plc between September 2021 and April 2024. However, the EFCC’s counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, previously informed the court that these charges had been dismissed after an agreement was reached with Bobrisky.

In response to the allegations, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, announced on September 25 that the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, had ordered an immediate investigation into the claims. Bobrisky took to Instagram to assert his innocence, emphasizing that he did not bribe any EFCC officials and had already served his prison sentence.

He characterized the viral audio as fraudulent and reiterated that he did not pay any EFCC money, labeling the accusations as a

Very big lie.” He wrote, “I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.”

The controversy has attracted further attention as Nigerian Afrobeat star Seun Kuti publicly supported VeryDarkMan. Kuti expressed his concern over the apparent differential treatment in the justice system, noting how he had been imprisoned during his own legal issues, while Bobrisky seemed to evade punishment. Kuti criticized the EFCC, claiming it focuses on minor criminals instead of addressing serious political and corporate corruption in Nigeria.

VeryDarkMan has shared a video featuring Bobrisky allegedly confessing to paying N15 million to EFCC officials to drop the charges. In another shocking revelation, Bobrisky mentioned that he had contacted his “godfather” for assistance and was prepared for imprisonment, even arranging for an apartment near the prison.

Amidst the unfolding drama, controversial comedian Deeone advised VeryDarkMan to focus solely on Bobrisky and avoid dragging Falz and his father, Femi Falana, into the matter. VeryDarkMan had previously released audio recordings suggesting Bobrisky had contacted the Falanas before his release from prison, with allegations that Femi Falana negotiated a settlement of N10 million to resolve the case.

As the situation escalates, Bobrisky’s actions have drawn both support and criticism from the public, with many questioning the extent of his connections and their impact on his legal outcomes. Recently, Bobrisky also settled a debt of N4 million after being publicly called out by VeryDarkMan for neglecting to repay a loan.
