Graham Potter has been fired as manager of Chelsea following a spate of disappointing performances that have left the Blues mired in 11th position in the Premier League. Potter was hired in September 2022 after Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali fired Thomas Tuchel as Chelsea’s head coach. Despite making significant player investments, Chelsea failed to find its footing during Potter’s tenure.
Potter only managed 12 wins, 8 losses, and 11 draws in 31 games in all competitions, far short of the Stamford Bridge faithful’s hopes after their team broke transfer records this season. Chelsea announced that Bruno Salter would take over as interim head coach.
“In his time with the club, Graham has taken us to the quarter-final of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future.
Co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said-
“On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham genuinely for his commitment to Chelsea”.
Graham is a coach and a person for whom we have the utmost respect. We are all unhappy with the decision because he has always acted with professionalism and integrity.
‘Along with our incredible fans, we will all be getting behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games remaining and a Champions League quarter-final ahead. We will put every effort and commitment into every one of those games so that we can end the season on a high.’
