President Mohammed Buhari said on Friday he was saddened by the devastation caused by landslides and flooding caused by Cyclone Freddy, which killed more than 300 people in Malawi.

In response to a record-breaking storm accompanied by a devastating landslide in the southeast African state of Malawi, Buhari offered his condolences to his counterpart, President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwela, for the victims who lost their families and the government of the country and the people of Nigeria.

The Nigerian leader prayed for the repose souls of the deceased and the speedy recovery of the wounded.

This was disclosed in a statement by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President.

However, the President hoped that all affected areas would return to normal soon.
