Nollywood actress Bukunmi Oluwasina has voiced her support for upcoming actress Jumola Bello, who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest acting on stage.
In a message on her Instagram, Bukunmi expressed her disappointment over the lack of support from fellow industry colleagues, highlighting that Jumola reached out to many but was largely snubbed.
Bukunmi articulated her heartbreak, noting that the entertainment industry often shows favoritism towards those who are already established or whom they might need in the future.
I do not see any growth in a place where the only people we support, show up for, or show love are the only people we know we might need later. That’s not love. That’s not support. That’s a complete emotional transaction,” she stated.
She emphasized the importance of supporting those who may not have the same level of recognition, urging her colleagues to lend their voices and presence, even if they couldn’t physically attend.
If it was a celebrity doing such, it wouldn’t be like this,” she pointed out.
Bukunmi implored everyone to support Jumola, who is on her last day of the challenge and has already exceeded the acting hours required. She expressed concern for Jumola’s emotional state, reminding others not to wait until it’s too late to show support.
Jumola Bello has been in the industry for years and deserves recognition for her bold attempt, Bukunmi asserted. “A win for one is a win for all,” she declared, calling on the community to unite and uplift one another.
Adding to the support, fellow actor Jigan Babaoja took to Instagram to back Jumola, stating that he doesn’t need to ingratiate himself with others to show support. “Oko mi na person wey send you to make you send! I no dey kiss ass na why I’m not friends with everybody,” he wrote, encouraging Jumola to succeed in her endeavour.
