Caroline Hutchings has launched a scathing attack on Yinka Ash, the CEO of the Ashluxe brand, following a troubling incident involving security at his building.
In her fiery Instagram post, Hutchings criticized Ash for his lack of empathy and failure to address the situation involving her and actress Shan George.
Hutchings’ post read:
Yinka, you have NO BUSINESS running a ‘luxury company’—you lack empathy and respect, especially towards women. To date, you have yet to apologize, your brand has not reached out to all affected, nor have you made any effort, to my knowledge, to hand over the attacker to the authorities for questioning and investigation.
From the records, you are rude and uncouth and care less about anyone as long as your business is running. I have no desire to stop your business but I won’t let you hurt me for nothing. The attacker is your staff (even though he claimed to be a police official which needs to be confirmed), and as long as you keep protecting him, you will face the music.”
The crux of Hutchings’ complaint revolves around a confrontation at Ashluxe’s building, where she and Shan George allegedly had a disagreement with security that ended with them being exposed to tear gas. Hutchings accused Ash of not taking responsibility or offering an apology.
The public response to Hutchings’ allegations was largely sympathetic towards her and critical of Ash. Many took to social media to voice their opinions:
– koko_barbz remarked, “I’m sorry, but what’s luxury about Ashluxe? He can’t even compete in the international market! Just those Lekki boys give it reps!”
– betty.afolami questioned, “Ashluxe and luxury in the same sentence? That clothing line is overpriced fast fashion. Prove me wrong.”
– suruka.ng suggested, “I expect the CEO to have visited them and consoled them, and apologized. Even if it’s already being investigated by the police.”
– aquamarine_beautyhaven wrote, “Dem no dey offend Caro o, she no go gree.”
– Abmoves added, “Even Gucci doesn’t reach this. For just parking? What will they now do to thieves who break into the shop?”
– iampreshus expressed, “This comment section is just off, my God, the hate is nauseating.”
– gabrihell01 noted, “Ladies in these comments are pained and I have no idea why.”
– omor_chuks commented, “Some of you women can be very rude to the security guards and the app drivers. I think the security guy didn’t allow you people to bully him, sorry madam.”
– thegodson_gram wrote, “That building should be placed under surveillance. Can’t be ordinary clothes.”
In response to the allegations, Yinka Ash released a statement addressing the incident:
I have been made aware of the incident that occurred on our office premises on Saturday, 18.08.2024 [8:30pm-10:00pm]. Upon learning of the situation, it was promptly reported to the relevant authorities, and we are cooperating fully with their ongoing inquiry and investigation.
I sincerely empathize with Ms. Caroline Hutchings and Ms. Shan George regarding the unfortunate events and have personally reached out to them. Our organization does not condone or support violence, assault, or harassment in any form.
We will continue to engage with all parties involved and cooperate with the authorities as they carry out their investigation. My best regards, Yinka Ash.”
This latest drama isn’t the first time Ashluxe has faced criticism. Recently, Yinka Ash publicly called out singer Lyta for wearing a fake version of his brand, leading to significant backlash. Lyta humorously addressed the situation in his music, adding another layer of controversy to Ashluxe’s reputation.
The conflict between Caroline Hutchings and Ashluxe highlights ongoing tensions in the luxury fashion industry and raises questions about the responsibilities of brands and their leaders. As the situation unfolds, the spotlight remains on how Ashluxe and Yinka Ash handle the backlash and work to resolve the issues raised.
