Nollywood legends, actors, actresses, and other celebrities are gearing up to honour the late veteran actor, Mr Ibu, in a grand Night of Tribute set to take place in Enugu State.
Amidst false claims of fundraising for the actor’s burial, the Central Planning Committee (CPC) has vehemently denied such reports, labeling them as malicious and sponsored by ill-intentioned individuals.
Chairman of the Committee, Monday Diamond Ani, clarified that despite the unfortunate loss of Mr Ibu, the committee has been tirelessly organizing various events to commemorate his legacy. Plans include erecting billboards across Enugu State, organizing a star-studded tribute performance at the Base Event Center in Enugu, and hosting a novelty match to honor the late actor.
Addressing the false claims circulating on social media, Ani warned against tarnishing Mr Ibu’s reputation and urged the public to disregard such misinformation. He emphasized that while funds are being raised in customary Igbo fashion to support the burial, claims of the family begging for funds are baseless and untrue.
The Night of Tribute promises to be a remarkable event, featuring candlelight processions, performances from gospel artists, musicians, and comedians, as well as goodwill speeches from Nollywood legends and personalities. Star appearances are expected from industry icons such as Chief Pete Edochie, Osita Iheme, Patience Ozokwor, and many others.
As preparations for the event continue, the support from Enugu State Government, Mercyland Deliverance Ministries Warri, Villa Toscana Hotels, and countless well-wishers has been instrumental in ensuring a fitting farewell for the beloved African movie legend.
