Legendary Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has visited the newly renamed Olamide Baddo Bus Stop in Lagos , a location that previously bore his name.
In July, the Bariga Local Council Development Area officially changed Charly Boy Bus Stop to honour indigenous rap star and music executive, Olamide. The announcement was made by LCDA Chairman, Kolade Alabi David, during the inauguration of new infrastructural projects on Friday, July 25th.
Reacting to the change, Charly Boy described it as “interesting,” noting that while anyone can rename a place, no one can rename a legacy. He said the issue was never about a bus stop, but about the fear of a man who refused to bow to oppressors and didn’t beg the system for acceptance.
In a video shared on Instagram, Charly Boy was seen at the renamed bus stop, joking about those who tried to show him “power.”
“Street na street, e no get age limit,” he quipped, adding that life was too short to be bothered about a name change when there were bigger things to worry about.
Media personality Noble Igwe also weighed in, saying that Charly Boy was far from ordinary and had secured his place in history, regardless of the bus stop’s new name.
