Job Description
The Accountant must be well versed in all aspects of accounting including (but not limited to) the preparation of financial statements, general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, journal entries and adjustments, maintenance of asset registers, etc.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of financial reports such as financial statements including cash flow statements and budget performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (i.e. IFRS, GAAP, FASB), rules, regulations, and systems of internal control.
- Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.
- Create and analyze liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling electronic data and required documentation.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local protocols including legal requirements, and interpret new and existing legislation
- Create and oversee the implementation of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations, and roll out reconciliation procedures
- Focus on tax compliance, state business registration, contract review, and tax filing
- Play a vital part in the company’s financial management which includes all monthly and annual account reconciliations and reporting to necessary parties
- Maintain and reconcile investment portfolios, ensuring accurate recording of transactions and performance metrics.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Must be a Chartered Accountant.
- Demonstrable understanding of IFRS; DipIFRS is a strong advantage
- Proven experience of 5-7 years in accounting/finance with Big 4 firms is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks, and other accounting software).
- Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, journal adjustments, preparation of all financial statements, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of risk management and process control frameworks is a strong advantage
- Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills and highly detail-oriented.
- Experience working with accounting software
- Working knowledge of tax filing and tax compliance as it pertains to state and federal-level regulations
- Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
