Chelsea Football Club is facing serious charges from the Football Association (FA) after being accused of 74 separate breaches of regulations.

The alleged misconduct spans a significant period, primarily between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 seasons, with the charges covering incidents that took place from 2009 to 2022.

The charges are extensive and include violations of the FA Football Agents Regulations, specifically Regulations J1 and C2.

Also, the club is accused of breaching the FA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries, which cover Regulations A2 and A3. The FA has also charged Chelsea with breaking its Third Party Investment in Players Regulations, involving Regulations A1 and B3.

In response to the charges, Chelsea has issued a detailed statement acknowledging the situation. The club emphasised that its current ownership group, which completed the purchase of the club on May 30, 2022, self-reported these historical issues to the FA and other regulators.

This action followed a thorough due diligence process that revealed potentially incomplete financial reporting and other possible breaches of FA rules. Chelsea has expressed a commitment to transparency throughout the process, providing comprehensive access to historical data and files.

Chelsea has until September 19, 2025, to formally respond to the charges and has stated its intention to work collaboratively with the FA to resolve the matter in a swift manner.
