Job Description
As our CFO, you will be the architect of our financial success. You will oversee all aspects of our financial operations, including financial planning & analysis (FP&A), accounting, treasury management, tax, and financial reporting. More importantly, you will be a strategic partner, providing insightful guidance and analysis to fuel our growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management within the FinTech or related sectors, exceptional strategic thinking, and proven leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth plans.
- Lead the financial planning and analysis function, providing insights and recommendations to the executive team.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, complying with all regulatory requirements (CBN, SEC).
- Manage relationships with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and other financial stakeholders.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.
- Risk Management:
- Develop and implement robust risk management policies and procedures.
- Monitor and mitigate financial risks, including market, credit, and operational risks.
- Capital Management:
- Oversee capital structure and manage relationships with investors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Lead fundraising efforts, including equity and debt financing.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Implement financial systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and support scalable growth.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives across the organization.
- Leadership and Team Development:
- Build and lead a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the finance department.
Qualification
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced degree or certification is highly preferred.
- Experience:
- Proven experience (7+ years) as a CFO or senior finance leader within the FinTech, financial services, or technology sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully leading financial strategies in high-growth companies.
- Strong understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Deep understanding of the Nigerian FinTech landscape and regulatory environment (CBN, SEC).
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
