Lagos State Civil Service Commission has said this year will witness the promotional advancement of around 4,000 state employees to the next grade level across all grade levels and cadres. The commission also stated that employees due for promotion must have satisfied the necessary criteria.
Mrs. Olubunmi Fabamwo, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, stated this on Wednesday while addressing the Year 2023 Promotion Exercise Revised Structure Training Programme for eligible public workers for 2023 promotion between grade levels 6 and 10 at Alausa, Ikeja.
Fabamwo explained that qualified officers must undergo training as one of the conditions for the promotion, aiming to expose and prepare them for their duties at the next grade level.
According to Fabamwo,
“We want to look at cross-cutting issues across all cadres and disciplines. We want our officers to have global knowledge about issues that will affect their performance on their jobs in addition to being very knowledgeable about their various professions”.
She stated that they incorporated several innovations into the yearly promotion process to ensure that officers receiving promotions have the necessary skills, knowledge, and competence to carry out their job descriptions successfully.
Furthermore, she cautioned individuals who would receive promotions to be firm and committed in their work, to reciprocate the favour to the state government, and to defend the compensation associated with the new grade levels.
