Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed a criminal complaint filed against Adesola Amosu, a former Chief of Air Staff, and two others for alleged N21.5 billion money laundering.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier re-arraigned the defendants on a revised 13-count allegation of money laundering totaling N21.5 billion.

On Tuesday, Justice Aneke upheld a preliminary objection filed by the defense counsel contesting the court’s authority to hear the case on the basis that the defendants were serving military officials at the time.

It maintained that because the defendants were still officers at the time, they could only be tried in a court martial.
