The recruiting process for the state’s civil service has been suspended, per Cross River Governor Bassey Otu’s directive. The Governor also demanded a thorough re-verification of the state’s government officials. Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche, his chief press secretary made the announcement in Calabar on Tuesday.
The Governor also mandated that any promotions made in the previous six months be revalidated.
He emphasised that these were part of the governor’s intention to reposition the civil service.
“This is in line with the Cross River government’s desire to reposition the state civil service to meet modern-day service delivery objectives.
Ogbeche quoted the Governor as saying-
“It will also enable the government to plan effectively for the overall good of hardworking civil servants.
“All civil servants must subject themselves to screening and documentation at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government at a date to be announced’’
