Media personality Daddy Freeze has stirred conversation online after voicing concern over legendary Nigerian singer 2Baba (Innocent Idibia). In a recent Instagram video, Freeze claimed the singer is “depreciating,” comparing him to a Bentley that’s turning into a Corolla.
He pointed out that while Annie Idibia, 2Baba’s wife, seems to be evolving into a queen, the music icon is beginning to fade, even likening his transformation to becoming “RadioGad” with a possible future as a puppet.
“2Baba’s depreciation is beginning to turn a Bentley into a Corolla. Annie is evolving into a Queen—can we say the same for 2Baba? He’s suddenly becoming RadioGad, there’s a tendency of him evolving to a puppet,” Daddy Freeze remarked.
This comes after 2Baba’s appearance on Nedu’s podcast, where he controversially claimed that men are not biologically built to be with one woman sexually. He added that even if a man deeply loves a woman, it doesn’t guarantee monogamy.
Following backlash, 2Baba made a U-turn, posting a video where he admitted, “I fucked up,” and apologized to his wife Annie, his fans, and children. In the emotional clip, he described Annie as the love of his life and said he is “deeply sorry” and that “this is not who I am.”
Charles Idibia, 2Baba’s brother, issued a strong reaction. He claimed his brother has been manipulated and “captured from the frying pan and thrown into an industrial furnace.” Charles accused Natasha, reportedly involved with 2Baba, of controlling him and urged the singer to “wake up” for the sake of his kids.
Meanwhile, Cynthia Morgan called on Natasha to stop trying to “purge a man like 2face into monogamy overnight.” She also questioned the singer’s spiritual standing, asking if he was truly a Christian and a church leader. Her message concluded with a call for prayers for the embattled artist.
Do2dtun, another media personality, also weighed in, expressing deep concern for 2Baba’s mental and emotional state. He observed that 2Baba typically avoids addressing personal matters publicly, which made this apology video unusual. Do2dtun believes the singer is “vulnerable” and possibly being forced into a lifestyle that doesn’t align with who he is.
In contrast, comedian Ayo Makun (AY) took a more empathetic stance. Posting on his social media pages, he emphasized the importance of checking on people instead of being quick to criticize. He described 2Baba as “a man under duress taking accountability for his actions—not because he’s perfect but because he’s human.”
“As men, we’re raised to suffer in silence. Even when we speak, it rarely ends well—we’re blamed, misunderstood, and dismissed. Vulnerability doesn’t protect us, it exposes us,” AY wrote.
He also criticized society’s tendency to ignore more pressing national issues while fixating on celebrities. According to him, entertainers deserve bonuses from the government for helping Nigerians “shift focus from issues that don’t contribute to their growth.”
