Former On-Air Personality (OAP) Daddy Freeze has responded to the court order requiring him to pay N5 million to his wife’s ex-husband, Paul Odekina, for committing adultery with Benedicta Elechi.
The High Court in Port Harcourt had issued this ruling in 2021, but Daddy Freeze’s appeal against the decision was dismissed in June 2024.
Expressing his displeasure with the judgment, Daddy Freeze claimed he was not properly served the court documents, violating legal procedures. Despite this, the appellate court upheld the original ruling.
In an Instagram live video, Daddy Freeze addressed the court order, stating that he had no issue paying the fine as his watch collection alone is worth over N100 million. He asserted his innocence, emphasizing that the incident occurred over 12 years ago during a difficult period for both him and Benedicta, who he later reconnected with at church.
The controversy has sparked backlash on social media, with many criticizing Daddy Freeze for his perceived arrogance. Some netizens accused him of being boastful, while others questioned his morals.
Daddy Freeze, formerly married to Opeyemi with whom he has two children, divorced in 2014 amidst allegations of adultery and domestic violence. He later remarried Benedicta Elechi, and the couple wed secretly in the UK in 2022.
Reflecting on his divorce, Daddy Freeze described it as a blessing in disguise, freeing him from a toxic relationship.
