Dangote Group has announced the long-awaited opening date of its refinery. An invitation circulating on social media indicated that the commissioning would take place on May 22, 2023.

A multi-billion dollar refinery and petrochemical company is expected to provide a solution to Nigeria’s ongoing refining problems.

In the same vien, President Muhammadu Buhari is set to commission the Dangote refinery in Lagos state on May 22.

This was announced by Buhari’s Special Assistant for Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad.

Ahmad said the refinery, which produces 650,000 barrels per day, will boost the federal government’s efforts to make Nigeria self-sufficient.

According to the Special Assistant, “Efforts by the Federal Government to make Nigeria self-sufficient in local refining of crude oil to save the scarce foreign exchange used in the importation of petroleum products have received a boost as the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery, the world’s largest single-train refinery, is set for inauguration on May 22nd, 2023, by President Muhammadu Buhari”.
