Darwin Nunez revealed his pride and inspiration after becoming Liverpool’s new No.9.
The striker has now officially switched to the famous shirt number ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, having worn 27 during his first season at Anfield after joining last summer.
Darwin Nunez told Liverpoolfc.com:
“I’m really happy to wear number nine. And I’m very proud too.
“Honestly, previously other players represented this number really well and now it’s my turn to wear it. And I hope that everything goes well.
“I hope I’m able to represent it the best way just as the previous players did. And hopefully this is for many years and that it brings a lot of joy too.”
Liverpool announced that Nunez will personally reimburse fans who have already purchased new 2023-24 home and away jerseys with the name ‘Darwin’ and the number ’27’. They will receive a like-for-like exchange for a ‘Darwin 9’ shirt.
Darwin Nunez will hope to improve on the 15 goals he has scored thus far for Liverpool.
