Award-winning Afrobeats star Davido has paid tribute to his late mother, Vero Adeleke, on her posthumous 61st birthday. Vero Adeleke, who passed away in 2003 at the young age of 40, remains a significant figure in Davido’s life and legacy.
Taking to the social platform X (formerly Twitter), Davido shared a heartfelt message for his mother.
“Happy birthday Mommy. Love and miss you,” he wrote, stirring emotional reactions from fans and followers.
Davido’s fans also joined in honouring Vero Adeleke, flooding the comment section with warm messages:
- “She gave us the King of Afrobeats. We love her.” – Damilola
- “She created a gem.” – Khan
- “Happy posthumous birthday ma.” – Teemar
- “We miss her too, brother.” – Gyno Razz
- “A beautiful soul. Keep resting, we all love and miss you.” – Eddy Twins
Earlier this year, during his traditional wedding, Davido honored his mother’s Edo heritage with a specially crafted attire. Wearing an Edo-inspired outfit, the singer paid homage to his roots and his late mother’s legacy.
Vero Adeleke, described by Davido as a “sweet mother,” has been a source of inspiration for the artist. In a touching post two years ago, Davido shared a youthful photo of his mother, describing her as a “baddie.”
Interestingly, Davido revealed last year that his mother once bought skitmaker Mr. Macaroni his first phone, emphasizing the generous spirit of his family. Mr. Macaroni himself confirmed this, sharing how Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke, had gifted him his first laptop.
