Afrobeat superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently spoke candidly about the deep impact of his late son’s passing. In a heartfelt interview with Omega, Davido revealed that the thought of his beloved son, Ifeanyi, still brings tears to his eyes every morning.
Despite the immense grief, Davido surprised fans by opting for a different musical direction in his latest album. Many expected a somber theme due to the loss of his son, but Davido decided to deliver “bangers” instead.
I miss him every day. Tears well up in my eyes every morning, even if you can’t see it,” Davido expressed, reflecting on his profound loss. “When I look at myself in the mirror, I remind myself that it’s not just about me. I know how many people love me and depend on me. My son up there is watching over me. Besides being strong for his mom, which is my primary responsibility, I have to be strong for the world.”
Davido also shared a touching belief that Ifeanyi and his late mother, Mrs. Veronica Adeleke, are dancing to his songs in heaven, offering a glimpse into the solace he finds in their spiritual presence.
While discussing his family, he made an unexpected revelation during an interview with YouTuber Anas Bukhash. As the conversation revolved around his daughters, he interrupted to share, “I have a son too. Ifeanyi has a little brother.”
Introducing Dawson, he disclosed that his younger son resides in London with his mother. Though details are scarce, the reveal hints at a new chapter in Davido’s life, filled with hope and the joys of fatherhood.
