Nigerian music star Davido has dismissed the controversy surrounding his wedding to Chioma, insisting nothing can tarnish the memory of their special day. The singer spoke out after his friend, music executive Ubi Franklin, was accused of stealing an expensive watch during the celebrations.
Ubi had publicly denied the allegations through a press statement, and Davido quickly stood by him. Taking to social media, the award-winning artist declared that their wedding was “perfect” and that he and Chioma were still basking in the joy of it.
We had an amazing wedding, perfect in fact! Me and my wife body still dey sweet us like this. NOTHING una fit do or say will change the fact that we had a fairytale wedding! One of the best days—if not the best day—of our lives. The whole world celebrated us,” he wrote.
The couple’s lavish white wedding took place in Miami on Sunday, August 10, with an impressive guest list including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Obi Cubana and wife, D’banj and wife, Uche Jombo, Zlatan and wife, among others.
During their vows, Chioma called Davido her love, best friend, and “calm in the storm,” promising to walk with him forever. Davido, in turn, described her as his peace, healer, and hope, saying she saw the real him and still chose him.
Their love story has been one of resilience—surviving public breakups, cheating scandals, and the devastating loss of their three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, in 2022. The couple, now parents to twins, share a bittersweet bond with D’banj and his wife, who also lost a child in similar circumstances.
Davido later posted a special wedding photo with D’banj, their wives standing between them, a moment many fans described as deeply symbolic and healing.
