Davido, through his foundation ‘THE DAVID ADELEKE FOUNDATION’, has officially announced the disbursement of three-hundred-million Naira to orphanages across Nigeria.
The announcement comes over a year after Davido made the promise following a cash donation from his birthday celebration in 2022.
In the statement released on Instagram, the foundation affirmed its commitment to improving the welfare of Nigeria’s vulnerable children. The disbursement process, overseen by the DAF Disbursement Committee, ensures transparency and accountability in fund allocation.
The foundation disclosed that the funds have been deposited into the foundation’s accounts, with detailed statistics showing the total number of eligible children and orphanage homes set to benefit. The allocation, averaging 19,733 Naira per eligible child, aims to assist 427 orphanage homes across the country.
Acknowledging the delay in disbursement, the foundation cited the need for meticulous vetting processes due to changing statistics of orphanage homes. Despite concerns raised by some individuals, including X app user Daniel Regha, the foundation’s official statement clarifies the delay and reaffirms its commitment to transparency.
Davido expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support orphans and urged them to accept his humble contribution.
