Nollywood actress Debbie Shokoya has opened up about the role her parents played in her journey to becoming the woman she is today.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Debbie reflected on her upbringing, revealing that her parents “walked so she could run.” She expressed gratitude for the priceless lessons they taught her—values like sincerity, hard work, staying focused on goals, holding on to faith, and most importantly, contentment.

“My parents walked so I could run, and I’m running so my children can fly.
Many things I’ve handled in life, I managed well because of my father and mother. They gave me things money can’t buy, things that make me wealthy forever—contentment, sincerity, hard work, focus on goals, and so much more.
Everything started from scratch; I built it brick by brick.
I move like I am perfect and not triggered by competition because I learned contentment early. Contentment is a gift. If you have it, you’re wealthier than a rich man,” she wrote.

The actress added that she hopes to pass the same values to her children, praying that they will someday be proud of how she raised and guided them.

Just days ago, Debbie spoke about her personal growth and how people often assume her life is perfect without knowing the struggles she has faced. Earlier this year, she vowed to avoid anyone bringing unnecessary drama into her life, stating that her past challenges have taught her to protect her peace and stay true to herself.
