Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has condemned the spread of false information surrounding the tragic death of her colleague, Junior Pope.
In a scathing rebuke on her Instagram page, Etiko expressed frustration with individuals who were disseminating inaccurate details about the incident to the public.
Etiko emphasized that she had been present at the scene of the unfortunate event until the early hours of the morning, yet some individuals who were not present were spreading misinformation online in an attempt to gain attention. She denounced their actions, asserting that God would judge them for their deceitful behavior.
Some annoying people who aren’t at the scene of the whole drama yesterday will be here online giving fake information to the entire public. I was there till this morning B4 going home den some never do well will come to live to be spewing nonsense because they just wanna trend with the dead. God will judge you all,” Etiko declared.
Earlier, Etiko and fellow actress Uju Okoli had criticized Sarah Martins for her comments regarding Adanma Luke’s alleged responsibility for Junior Pope’s death. Martins had accused Luke of recklessness in her movie production, prompting backlash from Okoli and Etiko.
The confirmation of Junior Pope’s death by the AGN president had further intensified the discourse surrounding the incident. The AGN issued a public statement, announcing the suspension of actors and actresses from participating in Luke’s movies, and the indefinite suspension of her movie production that resulted in Pope’s death.
Additionally, all movie productions involving riverine areas and boat riding were halted indefinitely, as the Nollywood community grappled with the tragic loss and the ensuing controversy.
Amidst the turmoil, the dispute over Junior Pope’s burial arrangements continued, with conflicting opinions within the community regarding traditional rituals and spiritual beliefs.
