Destiny Etiko praises Nigerians for their patience amid economic hardship. Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has applauded Nigerians for their resilience and perseverance despite the challenging economic conditions.
In light of the recent protests in Kenya, she highlighted how Nigerians continue to wake up with smiles and push through daily struggles, calling them the most patient people in the world.
In her heartfelt message, Destiny Etiko said,
Nigerians are one of the most patient countries in the world. See how things are in the country? We still wake up, have smiles on our faces, and still push every day. Nigerians are VIPs.”
Her comments sparked diverse reactions from the public:
– @NoraCynthia23: “She did not lie though, instead of us to be serious and address the issue, we take everything as a joke. That’s one reason the government of this country will never listen to us.”
– @DinahAbuh: “Nigerians are not patient, our mumu too much.”
– @VieraManny: “I swear.”
– @PreciousOge: “Lead the protest.”
– @Chiskyetc: “Docile not patient.”
– @WealthSmith017: “Ajeh, we sabi adapt.”
– @PercyBobby4: “Fears and patience are two different words, so don’t mix them up.”
– @HyperBeatz: “I won’t call it patient but the fear of facing the government.”
Destiny Etiko’s sentiment echoes that of talent manager Paulo Okoye, who recently declared Nigerians as one of the most patient populations globally. He noted that despite the hardships, Nigerians continue to wake up with smiles and keep pushing forward, while the government takes advantage of their patience.
The economic strain in Nigeria is evident through the public outcry over rising prices. Uche Elendu recently lamented that a crate of eggs in her area costs N6000. She criticized the government and sarcastically suggested banning eggs if prices continue to rise. Yoruba actress Yewande Adekola Abiodun also highlighted the skyrocketing price of a bag of Garri, now sold for N80,000, emphasizing how it used to be a staple for the less fortunate.
In February, Debbie Shokoya expressed concern over the soaring cost of living, questioning which country she could relocate to, with a bag of rice being sold at N90,000. Also, during the festive period, Mary Njoku revealed her shock at spending N100,000 at a supermarket without filling her trolley, underscoring the harsh economic reality.
