Deyemi Okanlawon, one of Nollywood’s leading stars, has embarked on an exciting new chapter in his career—his Hollywood debut.
The talented actor took to Instagram to share his joy, posting a video tour of his current residence in the famed Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. While many celebrities might downplay such an achievement, Deyemi openly expressed how monumental this moment is for him and his family.
In the video, Deyemi emphasized that while it might seem cooler to act like staying in Hollywood isn’t a big deal, it’s important to recognize how far he’s come and the struggles he’s faced along the way.
If only you knew where I’m coming from and how rough the road has been, you’d understand how big this is for me and my family,” he shared. With a shoutout to his Hollywood plug, Sam Okhade, Deyemi humbly gave credit to divine intervention, stating, “God really dey!”
Deyemi’s rise in the entertainment industry has been remarkable. Last year, he paid tribute to veteran Nollywood actor Kunle Bantefa, recalling his first time on set at the tender age of 8 or 9, starring in a family commercial alongside legendary actress Sola Sobowale, who played his mother.
In March 2023, Deyemi received the prestigious Trailblazer award at the 16th edition of the Silverbird Awards, a testament to his hard work and the impact he’s made in Nollywood. He expressed gratitude to Silverbird TV and the public, noting that the award had been “a long time coming.”
Furthermore, in February of last year, Deyemi fulfilled one of his long-held career goals when he was appointed as the Director of Planning/Strategy for the Actors Guild of Nigeria, a role that allowed him to influence the industry positively. With his Hollywood debut now underway, Deyemi continues to live his dreams and inspire others with his journey.
